Italy and South Korea’s Defense Industry Collaboration

The Italy – South Korea Defence Industry Forum took place, on September 5th, aboard the “Raimondo Montecuccoli,” the Italian Navy’s PPA (Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura) at the ROK Operations Command naval base in Busan, in South Korea.
This event marked a crucial moment in the defense industry in the APAC Region, highlighting the collaborative efforts between Italy and South Korea.
Fincantieri NexTech and IDS, along with our South Korea Team, are glad to have been part at forum provided a platform for discussing technological innovation and bilateral cooperation.
The forum, attended by representatives from both nations’ industry and government agencies, as well as high-ranking officers from the Italian Navy and the South Korean Navy, was more than just a gathering; it was a showcase of “Made in Italy” cutting-edge technology and a testament to the growing relationship between both nations.
One of the highlights was the show of the Naval Cockpit system, co-developed by Fincantieri NexTech and Leonardo. This system, inspired by avionics technology, is equipped on the ITS Montecuccoli and represents a significant advancement in naval operations. The highly efficient and ergonomic single symmetrical command post can manage both the PPA Control & Management functions and the combat capabilities, demonstrating the potential of technological innovation in enhancing defense capabilities.
