We’re diving into the future of underwater innovation

We are proud to be a part of the establishment of the National Underwater Hub (Polo Nazionale della dimensione Subacquea), the Italian center which will enhance research and innovation in the underwater environment, to ensure its safety and promote industrial and economic opportunities.
The underwater domain, a vast and largely unexplored realm, is rapidly emerging as one of the most important frontiers for technological advancement. With its untapped resources, intricate ecosystems, and strategic importance for both civil and military applications, the underwater world holds immense potential for innovation.
Fincantieri NexTech is ready to play its role, together with the Fincantieri Group, in the “Polo Nazionale della dimensione Subacquea”, aiming to supervise and design a new space that connects the requirements of the Italian Navy with the demands of the security and safety of the seabed for civil and defence fields.
Fincantieri NexTech’s unmanned technologies, the SAND and the UMS, are poised to revolutionize underwater operations. IDS’s SAND, an Unmanned Surface Vehicle – USV, is specifically designed to address recurring or hazardous operational scenarios, providing a solution for tasks that are too risky or not cost effective to have human operators on-board.
The UMS – Unmanned Management System, on the other hand, serves as a versatile platform capable of coordinating and controlling teams of unmanned systems from various domains. This capability expands the range of underwater operations, enabling coordinated surveillance, mapping, and infrastructure monitoring in a scalable way.
With its unwavering dedication to technological excellence and its expertise in Maritime and Defence applications, Fincantieri NexTech is poised to become a frontrunner in shaping the future of underwater technologies.
The contributions of the Fincantieri Group to the Polo Nazionale della dimensione Subacquea Hub and its wider portfolio of underwater solutions will undoubtedly play a transformative role in unlocking the vast potential of the underwater world.
